iPhone game developer ngmoco has lured a big name to head up its new publishing division?Sega of America President and COO Simon Jeffery. As chief publishing officer, Jeffery will run the company's Plus+ Publishing division, which will give third-party game developers access to ngmoco's established network of games (and satisfied customers).

The company is also rolling out the Plus+ Network, which will let players create a single profile across all of their purchased ngmoco games, share scores and play against friends; CEO Neil Young demoed some of the features during Apple's WWDC last week. He tells TechCrunch that the Plus+ Network will eventually pull in data from Facebook Connect.

The new role makes sense for Jeffery, as he's been very bullish on the iPhone's power as a gaming platform (via Kotaku). And he brings over two decades worth of experience to ngmoco: he spent four years with Sega and served as president of Star Wars studio LucasArts before that; he's also held senior roles at Electronic Arts (NSDQ: ERTS) and Virgin Interactive. Release.
