PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY

Woodbridge Man Is Killed in Motorcycle Crash

A 21-year-old Woodbridge man was killed Friday in a motorcycle crash, and police say speed was a factor in his death.

Stephen L. Stone was operating a 2003 Suzuki motorcycle when he lost control on Beau Ridge Drive, hit a curb, slid across a sidewalk and hit a tree about 9:15 p.m., Prince William County police said. He was transported to a hospital and pronounced dead. Police said he was not wearing a helmet.

Vacationer Fatally Shot by Miami Beach Officer

A Woodbridge man on vacation was fatally shot Sunday by a Miami Beach police officer, and the victim's family says police stopped the wrong man.

Police were looking for a man who was reportedly walking with a gun when an officer approached Husien Shehada, 29. The officer and Shehada exchanged words, and a confrontation ensued. The officer reportedly shot Shehada, who died at Jackson Memorial Hospital.

Shehada's brother was charged with battery. His cousin, Najwa Ghannam, told the Miami Herald that Shehada was unarmed and "didn't stand a chance." The police department and the state attorney's office were investigating the shooting.
