Forward Jaime Moreno will miss both of D.C. United's matches this week because of a hamstring injury, club officials confirmed yesterday.

Moreno, MLS's career scoring leader, limped off the field late in the first half of Saturday's 2-1 victory over Chicago at RFK Stadium. He did not accompany the team to Seattle yesterday for tomorrow's game against the expansion Sounders and will also sit out Saturday's match at Colorado.

With Luciano Emilio returning from suspension and a two-week break from league play approaching, United was not going to risk further injury to Moreno.

"He has a long time to heal, so it was a good time to keep him away," said Coach Tom Soehn, whose team (5-2-7) is in first place in the Eastern Conference.

Emilio and Moreno lead the team with five goals apiece. Meantime, midfielder Ben Olsen, who has missed four league matches with a hamstring injury, was included on the travel roster.
