Dear Heloise:
The garage-sale season is almost in full swing. I get very excited when I see a sign on the side of the road. I have to turn the car around to see if I can find that one great deal of the day.
What I don't like is turning my car around to find that the sign is an old one from days, weeks or months earlier. I see this all the time during the summer. It is a waste of my time and gas. Please remind your readers if they have a garage sale to dispose of their sign when their sale is over.
Garage Saler, Casnovia, Mich.
This is a common complaint from my readers. In many areas, it's also a violation not to remove the signs after the event is over. Hopefully, people will take heed and take down the signs.
Dear Heloise:
My friend lost her cellphone at a tourist attraction. My sister-in-law suggested that I send a text message to my friend's phone, saying, "If found, call (my cellphone number)." It worked like a charm. Within 10 minutes, we received a call saying the phone had been found, and we arranged to pick it up. The text message enabled the finder to know immediately whom to contact.
