Sandberg Says No Hall for Sosa

Former Cubs star Ryne Sandberg, a 2005 Hall of Fame inductee, says Sammy Sosa doesn't belong.

"I don't think so," Sandberg told a radio station in Chicago yesterday. "Part of being in the Hall of Fame, they use the word integrity in describing a Hall of Famer . . . and I think there are going to be quite a few players that are not going to get in."

The New York Times last week reported that Sosa was one of 104 players who tested positive for a performance-enhancing drug in 2003, while he was with the Cubs.

-- ALL-STAR GAME: President Obama plans to throw out the ceremonial first pitch before the July 14 All-Star Game at Busch Stadium in St. Louis.

Obama, a White Sox fan, will be the fourth president to throw out the first pitch at an all-star game, following John F. Kennedy (1962 in Washington), Richard Nixon (1970 in Cincinnati) and Gerald Ford (1976 in Philadelphia). In addition, Franklin Roosevelt attended the 1937 game in Washington.

-- YANKEES: MLB President Bob DuPuy has denied the formal protest filed by New York after Sunday's 6-5 loss to the Marlins, which was prompted by a Marlins substitution mix-up.
