Doctors at Howard University Hospital successfully delivered quadruplets yesterday and said Folashade Omoyele and her three sons and daughter were doing well.

Kerry Lewis, chair of the obstetrics and gynecology department, delivered the babies shortly before 10 a.m. Mychal Young, chair of the pediatrics department, said mother and children were resting comfortably.

Omoyele and her husband, Salihu Adeleke, are Nigerian immigrants who live in Odenton.

The babies were born a minute apart starting at 9:55 a.m. They ranged in weight from 3 pounds 4 ounces to 4 pounds 6 ounces. The shortest baby is 16.25 inches, and the longest is 17 inches.

The boys have been named Mubarak, Amir and Khalifa. The girl is Amira-Saliha.

Omoyele has been hospitalized since the 29th week of her pregnancy. She and her husband have been trying to have children for five years, hospital officials said.
