The Chicago Red Stars defeated the Washington Freedom, 2-1, on Wednesday evening in Women's Professional Soccer at Toyota Park in Bridgeview, Illinois.
The Freedom's Abby Wambach opened the scoring in the 34th minute as she was left unmarked on the back post and hit the ball cleanly into the goal. Lisa DeVanna assisted the effort.
The Red Stars would score shortly into the second half, as Cristiane got on the end of a Lindsay Tarpley pass to finish with the heel of her foot in the 49th minute. In the 64th minute, Tarpley scored the game-winner.
With the win, the Red Stars become the first team to come back from a deficit to win a WPS match.
