Turtle Struck by Darts

STERLING, Atlantic Blvd., June 25. An animal control officer responded to a report of a snapping turtle with darts sticking out of its neck. The officer found the turtle with six darts in its face and took it to a veterinary clinic for evaluation and treatment.

3 Pets Displaced by House Fire

ALDIE, Inspiration Terr., June 25. An animal control officer responded to a request for assistance at a house fire where pets were involved. The officer found three pets, all uninjured, in the residence and took them to the shelter. The owner was notified that the pets were safe and would be at the shelter until she could reclaim them.

Dog Left in Car on Hot Day

LEESBURG, N. King St., June 26. An animal control officer responded to a report of a dog inside a car on a hot day. The officer located the car and found a golden retriever inside panting heavily. The officer measured the temperature inside the car at 103 degrees. A short time later, the owner arrived. The officer informed him about the laws and the dangers of leaving pets in vehicles, and issued a warning.

Cats Whose Owner Died Are Safe

LOVETTSVILLE, East Pennsylvania Ave., June 27, An animal control officer responded to a request to check the welfare of cats whose owner had died. The officer found a man at the home who said that he was caring for the home and the cats. No violations were found.

Shepherd and Owner Reunited

ALDIE, Cherish Court, June 28. An animal control officer responded to a report of an elderly German shepherd that was loose. The officer found the dog but couldn't identify the owner, so the dog was taken to the shelter. Soon afterward, the owner filed a lost-dog report and was reunited with the pet.
