Outlook
After finishing second at the Confederations Cup in South Africa, the Americans will vie for a third consecutive Gold Cup title with a roster of mostly secondary players eager to make an impression before next year's World Cup. Veterans Cherundolo and Ching return from injury, while Adu, 20, has an opportunity to prove himself after not playing in the Confederations Cup. Canada (in 2000) is the only team other than the United States and Mexico (four titles apiece) to win the championship. Honduras was the last team from the CONCACAF region to beat the Americans at a U.S. venue -- eight years ago in a World Cup qualifier at RFK.
U.S. Roster
