ATLANTA, July 3 -- Chamique Holdsclaw scored 18 points, and Sancho Lyttle added 16, helping the Atlanta Dream snap a two-game losing streak with a 72-65 victory over the Washington Mystics on Friday night.
Alana Beard had 16 points for Washington, which has dropped three of four and missed its first nine three-point attempts before Matee Ajavon hit two straight in the final two minutes. The Mystics began the game with the WNBA's third-best percentage beyond the arc at 39.4.
A sprained left ankle sidelined Washington's Marissa Coleman, who led rookies with a 12.7 scoring average. Coleman went 4 for 4 on three-point attempts in the Mystics' two-point win Tuesday in San Antonio.
Atlanta, which had lost four of five, forced Washington into 28 turnovers, a season high for the Mystics that resulted in 23 points.
-- SILVER STARS 85, SKY 72: Sophia Young had 19 points and eight rebounds in leading host San Antonio past Chicago. Becky Hammon added 14 points with 10 assists.
Taurasi Cited for DUI
Phoenix police say Mercury leading scorer Diana Taurasi was cited for drunken driving just a few hours after the club's Wednesday night win over the Seattle Storm.
Phoenix police spokesman Luis Samudio says an officer stopped Taurasi at about 2:30 Thursday morning for allegedly speeding. A police statement says the officer smelled alcohol and gave her several field sobriety tests.
-- PARKER TO REJOIN SPARKS: Candace Parker, last season's WNBA MVP and rookie of the year, is returning to action for Los Angeles tomorrow when they host the Mercury, the first time she's played since giving birth.
