I welcomed the call in the July 3 editorial "The Red Line Slog" for more courtesy in these difficult times.

In addition to the practices mentioned, riders might consider lowering the volume on their iPods and other listening devices and keeping cellphone calls brief. The din, mildly irritating at best, becomes even more so in a stalled, stuffy car. It would also be nice if younger riders ceded their seats to older ones with greater regularity.
