Rupert Grint Recovers
Rupert Grint has come down with a "mild" case of swine flu, the Associated Press reports. The actor, who plays Ron Weasley in the "Harry Potter" movies, took a few days off from filming "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" in Britain to recover at his home, but his spokeswoman confirms that Grint is now well and no longer contagious.
She told London's Mirror, "Rupert has now recovered and is looking forward to joining his fellow cast members at the premieres of 'Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince' this week, and will then return to filming directly afterwards."
The Mirror reports that the 20-year-old actor is thought to have been treated with Tamiflu.
Boyle's on Record
"Britain's Got Talent" star Susan Boyle has recorded her first studio song, and the track already has its first fan, People magazine reports.
"She sounds fantastic on record," "BGT" judge Simon Cowell says. "She's so good; the album is not just going to be show tunes."
The as-yet-unidentified track is the first on her planned album, which she's under "no pressure" to complete anytime soon, Sony BMG execs say. After Boyle's stress-induced hospitalization after she finished second on "Britain's Got Talent," and her recent cancellations on the BGT tour, the label is "treating her gently," People says.
U2's Mask Campaign
U2's got a new look . . . sort of. As the rockers kick off their world tour, they're trying to garner support for jailed Burmese opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi by encouraging fans to wear a mask of her likeness.
Printed on the back of the downloadable Suu Kyi mask found at U2's official site are these instructions: "Wear to work or college, when you're at home drinking a cup of tea . . . especially to be worn at U2 shows when the band [plays] Walk On."
"Walk On," a single from 2000, was written for Suu Kyi, a democracy advocate. According to a statement from Burma Campaign UK, when U2 began to play the song in a Barcelona stadium last week, thousands in the audience were wearing or holding the masks.
Powell: Jackson 'Worthy'
Colin Powell says Michael Jackson's art should be celebrated, and that the late singer is "worthy of all the tribute that he is receiving."
The former secretary of state told CNN's "State of the Union" that he was stationed in Vietnam, South Korea and elsewhere for much of Jackson's heyday.
Powell said his most vivid memory of Jackson is of the young boy and his brothers performing as the Jackson 5. He said the Jacksons were "fresh, exciting kids with the 'fros in the early '70s and singing those wonderful songs -- 'ABC'! Don't ask me to sing it," the retired general said.
A Bit of Sniping
Megan Fox, star of "Transformers," in Entertainment Weekly last month: "People are well aware that this is not a movie about acting."
Director Michael Bay's response: "Nobody in the world knew about Megan Fox until I found her and put her in 'Transformers.' "
