Woman, 18, Says Man Tried to Abduct Her
Loudoun County authorities are investigating a report of an attempted abduction Monday of an 18-year-old woman in Sterling.
The woman said she was walking near the rear of the Sterling Park Mall about 4:30 p.m. when a man asked her for directions. As she approached his sport-utility vehicle, she said, he tried to pull her inside.
She screamed and fought back, and the suspect released her and left the scene, authorities said. The woman also left the scene and contacted the Loudoun Sheriff's Office to report the incident about 6:15 p.m.
The suspect was described as 35 to 40 with a thin build, unshaven and wearing a blue polo-style shirt and a black hat with lettering. He might also have recent facial injuries.
He was driving an older-model black SUV with faded paint, authorities said. The vehicle was also reported to have oxidation spots on the passenger side.
Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information about the suspect is asked to call the sheriff's office at 703-777-0475. Those wishing to be anonymous can call Loudoun Crime Solvers at 703-777-1919. If the information provided leads to an arrest and indictment, the caller could be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
Two Sterling Men Charged In Stabbing
Two men have been charged in connection with a suspected gang-related stabbing Saturday in Sterling.
Jose E. Salmeron-Zelayandai, 20, and Carlos Hernandez-Trochez, 20, both of Sterling, were charged with malicious wounding and gang participation.
Loudoun County sheriff's deputies responded to a report of a possible fight in the area of Whitcomb Square shortly before 11 p.m. The deputies found a 22-year-old man suffering from lacerations consistent with a stab wound.
According to witnesses, the victim and some friends were approached by two men, one of whom asked the victim whether he was in a gang as the second grabbed the victim from behind. He was assaulted by both. As the man's friends tried to stop the assault, the assailant fled the scene on foot, authorities said.
A description of the suspects was obtained from witnesses and a lookout was posted. Two suspects matching the descriptions were located by deputies, the sheriff's office said.
Salmeron-Zelayandai and Hernandez-Trochez were being held without bond.
