-- Four District designers have cleaned out their closets and pooled their treasures for Capital Consignment's Designer Castoff Sale. Co-owner Judith Carrig is expecting 208 pieces from the designers, whose names she won't divulge, to arrive throughout July.

She says shoppers can find beds, sectionals, tables and mirrors from Baker, Century, Henredon, Kittinger, Nancy Corzine and Niermann Weeks at the three-year-old store, which specializes in used high-end furnishings. Merchandise will be marked an additional 10 percent off the traditional consignment-shop formula of discounting items one-third off retail. Carrig says she has a Kindle sideboard that may sell at Bloomingdale's for $7,700 but is on sale at the store for $2,500.

More sale items will be available once some are sold because the 5,000-square-foot store is not big enough to showcase everything at once, Carrig adds. The sale ends July 31. Visit Capital Consignment at 4909 Cordell Ave., Bethesda, or online at http://www.capitalconsignment.net. For information, call 301-986-1414.

-- For the rest of the summer, Sparrows Antiques, which specializes in French wares, is discounting dozens of items 25 to 40 percent. The clearance items will slowly be rolled out to make room for a shipment in the fall, says showroom manager Lori Chaikin. Marked-down items include furniture, lighting and accessories. For example, an art deco rosewood bookcase, regularly $4,200, is now $2,520. The sale will end when all clearance items are sold. Sparrows Antiques is at 4115 Howard Ave., Kensington. For more information, call 301-530-0175 or visit http://www.sparrows.com.

-- Urban Country's annual warehouse sale starts today and ends Sunday. Shoppers can save up to 70 percent on floor samples, overstocked merchandise and discounted items, including upholstered chairs, armoires, beds, entertainment centers and home accessories in the 10,000-square-foot warehouse. A Ploi dining table with a suggested retail price of $4,752 is marked down to $2,851. A leather sofa from Old Hickory Tannery will be discounted from $6,010 to $1,688. "We're trying to clear out some older merchandise," co-owner Jillian Roth says.

The warehouse is at the store's former location at 7801 Woodmont Ave., Bethesda. For more information, call 301-654-0500.
