Orphaned Duckling Rescued
CRYSTAL DR., 1500 block, June 29. Animal control received a call about a duckling in a fountain with no mother duck in sight and a dead duckling nearby. Several people had reported seeing six other ducklings in the past few days and said that they were dying off, one by one. Animal control took the duckling to the shelter, where it was fed and kept warm. It was transferred to a wildlife rehabilitator to be cared for until it is able to be released. Anyone who sees injured or orphaned wild animals should call animal control, officials said.
