This is the meeting schedule for the D.C. Council and its committees for the coming week. All meetings are in the Council Chamber of the John A. Wilson Building, 1350 Pennsylvania Ave. NW, unless otherwise noted.

Today

Committee of the whole public hearing, 10 a.m. The agenda follows. 10 a.m.: A bill ordering the closing of G Street SE, adjacent to Square 1104, bounded by 19th Street SE in Ward 6, Bill 18-0149. 11 a.m.: A bill ordering the closing of a portion of a public alley in Square 1297, bounded by 34th and R streets NE in Ward 2, Bill 18-0298. Noon: A bill symbolically designating the 1100 block of Seventh Street NE in Ward 6 as Loree H. Murray Way, in honor of the late Loree H. Murray, Bill 18-0331.

Government operations and the environment public hearing, 1 p.m., Room 123. Agenda: Comprehensive Bonds and Commissions Review Amendment Act of 2009, Bill 18-0234. The bill would amend the Governmental Reorganization Procedures Act of 1981 to require a comprehensive review of certain boards and commissions every five years and to require that a comprehensive review be conducted and a report prepared by Feb. 1, 2010. Board of Enhanced Access to Public Space and Building Establishments Act of 2009, Bill 18-0279. The bill would establish the Board of Enhanced Access to Public Space and Buildings, designate the members of the board, charge the board with the duty to design a uniform standard and establish a thoughtful process for providing District taxpayers with access to District-owned buildings, require the board to conduct a comprehensive study of best practices for providing public access to publicly owned buildings, require that the board produce a report of its findings to include recommendations as to how the District shall enhance public access to public space and buildings, and terminate the board after it has provided the report.

Health additional committee meeting, 2 p.m., Room 123. Agenda: Update on the quality of care at United Medical Center.

Housing and workforce development committee meeting, 2 p.m., Room 120. The agenda had not been set at press time.

Tomorrow

Public safety and the judiciary public hearing, noon. Agenda: The Attorney General of the District of Columbia Clarification Act of 2009, Bill 18-0065. The bill would establish appointment requirements and minimum qualifications for the attorney general of the District and amend the District of Columbia Home Rule Act to establish the attorney general for the District as an elected position.

Monday

Public safety and the judiciary public hearing, 10 a.m. Agenda: The Metropolitan Police Department Command Staff Appointment Amendment Act of 2009, Bill 18-0005. The bill would amend the District of Columbia Government Comprehensive Merit Personnel Act of 1978 and an act relating to the metropolitan police of the District, approved Feb. 28, 1901, to allow the chief of police to appoint to command ranks from among the Metropolitan Police Department's lieutenants and to clarify that the titles of deputy chief and commander describe the same position and rank, and amend an act relating to the Metropolitan police of the District, an act to authorize the commissioners of the District to assign officers and members of the metropolitan police force to duty in the detective bureau of the Metropolitan Police Department, and for other purposes, the First Amendment Rights and Police Standards Act of 2004, the District of Columbia Police and Firemen's Salary Act of 1958, Title 25 of the D.C Official Code, the Anti-Loitering Drug Free Zone, the College and University Campus Security Amendment Act of 1995, Chapter 1 of Title 6A, D.C. Municipal Regulations, Chapter 1 of Title 12A, D.C. Municipal Regulations, and Chapter 14 of Title 18 D.C. Municipal Regulations to make conforming amendments.

Public services and consumer affairs, 10 a.m., Room 123. Agenda: Chemotherapy Pill Coverage Act of 2009, Bill 18-0278. The bill would require individual and group health plans and health insurers to provide coverage for orally administered chemotherapy medication in a manner no more restrictive than treatment offered for intravenously administered or injected cancer medications.

Health additional committee meeting, 10 a.m., Room 123. Agenda: An update on tobacco cessation programs in the District.

Government operations and the environment public hearing, 11 a.m., Room 120. Agenda: Omnibus Election Reform Act of 2009, Bill 18-0345. The bill would amend the District of Columbia Election Code to include board member qualifications and restrictions on board member activities, to impose an open meetings requirement, to establish regulations allowing election observers uniform and nondiscriminatory access to the election process, to establish reporting requirements following elections, to expand the franchise to persons that are 17 but will be 18 at the time of the general election, to allow for pre-registration of persons 16 years or older, to permit same-day registration, to require the board to submit an automatic voter-registration study, to add the Department of Corrections and the Department of Youth Rehabilitative Services to agencies covered under the National Voter Registration Act, to polling place workers, to require performance management of polling place workers, to allow public employees to take paid leave in order to work as a polling place worker, to establish a polling place worker check-off on voter registration forms, to require a voting system with a voter-verifiable voter record, to require a competitive contracting process for new voting systems, to allow for no-fault absentee ballots, to allow persons to cast vote centers, to authorize the board to extend voting hours in emergency situations, to require the posting of summary counts of votes at the precincts, to move Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner elections to the primary elections, to establish ballot auditing standards, to allow the board to establish filing fees for candidates for elected office, to adjust the number of signatures needed for Advisory Neighborhood Commission nomination petitions, to allow for passive electioneering at the polls, to prohibit defacing campaign posters and other campaign materials during an election period, and to repeal the false statements provisions in the board's initiative regulations.

Health committee meeting, 2 p.m., Room 120. Agenda: an examination of the purpose, roles and responsibilities of a fiscal agent with respect to the administration of District health-care grants.

Tuesday

Thirteenth legislative meeting, 10 a.m. The legislative agenda had not been set at press time.
