WEDDING DATE: June 27

LOCATION: Memorial Chapel,

College Park

GUESTS: 120

How they met: The couple became friends while freshmen at the University of Maryland, when Whitney lived across the dorm hall from Derrick's then-girlfriend. Whitney can't remember their introduction, but Derrick claims she caught his eye right away.

Pet peeve about the other half? Whitney: "His love for science fiction." Derrick: "Squeezing toothpaste from the middle of the tube."

The proposal: Whitney and Derrick had plans to tailgate before the 2007 University of Maryland homecoming football game. While waiting for friends, Derrick pretended to receive a call from a former roommate asking him to pick up something from his old apartment. He asked Whitney to walk across campus with him, and as they strolled through the garden next to Memorial Chapel, he got on one knee and proposed.

The theme: It was a very Maryland affair for these alums. The ceremony and reception were held on campus, and they chartered an official University of Maryland bus for the bridal party and guests. Their reception tables were named after campus buildings. The groom's cake? Decorated with the Terps logo and picture of mascot Testudo, of course.

The honeymoon: The newlyweds spent eight days on Kauai, Hawaii, where they kayaked, hiked, snorkeled and took a helicopter tour.
