Please, no more columns glorifying South Carolina first lady Jenny Sanford at the expense of other betrayed political wives.
Robin Givhan's July 5 On Culture column, praising Sanford's independent spirit and carefree outfits ["In Hubby's Time of Trouble, She Can't Be Bothered"], not only belies the fact that Sanford is without a doubt suffering horribly but also does a gross and painful injustice to other wives whose personalities and wardrobe choices may have led them to put a more conventional face on their pain and embarrassment.
Sanford and all her "sisters in ignominy" have suffered the same humiliation. Each one has demonstrated grace under pressure in her own way.
Compassion, not judgment, is called for.
