Two young men died over the weekend in separate but similar car crashes in Montgomery County, police said. In a third incident in the county, a woman was injured when her car smashed into a house.

About 6:30 a.m. yesterday, Ni'Keem Malik Banana, 20, of Wootton Avenue in Poolesville was found dead by rescue personnel and police sent to the scene of a car wreck in the 14600 block of Hughes Road in Poolesville, police said.

They said the southbound car left the road, struck a tree and came to rest on its side.

The man in the other fatal crash was identified by police as Pedro I.S. Canuto, 22, of Gainsborough Road in Potomac.

Police said he was driving west on Bradley Boulevard in Bethesda about 6:20 a.m. Saturday when his car crossed into the eastbound lanes and then left the road.

The car struck a tree on the driver's side, and Canuto died of his injuries yesterday, police said.

Police said both of the fatal crashes are under investigation.

In the third incident, a woman described as in her 70s or 80s crashed through a wooden fence about 6 p.m. Saturday and struck a house in the 11500 block of Daffodil Lane in Wheaton, said Montgomery Fire and Rescue Service spokesman Oscar Garcia. The house is near the intersection of Arcola Avenue and Kemp Mill Road.

He said officials deemed the house unsafe to occupy. Details on the woman's condition were not immediately available.
