Hokies to Visit FedEx Again?

Virginia Tech and Boise State are in talks to play at FedEx Field in 2010 but the arrangement has not been finalized, according to a Washington Redskins official familiar with the discussions.

Richmond television station WTVR reported Tuesday that the Hokies and Broncos had reached an agreement to meet each other in the 2010 season opener. The report cited unnamed sources.

Boise State has no game scheduled on Sept. 4, 2010, the first Saturday of the season, but Virginia Tech is scheduled to play Central Michigan on that date.

Virginia Tech played Southern California at FedEx Field in its 2004 season opener, falling to the Trojans, 24-13, before 91,665 fans.

Also, Virginia Tech and Syracuse mutually agreed to cancel games against each other in the 2010 and 2011 seasons, according to Sue Edson, assistant athletic director for communications at Syracuse. . . .

The alcohol and probation charges that led to former Virginia quarterback Peter Lalich's dismissal from the football team have been dropped. In September 2008, Lalich was charged with drinking alcohol while on probation for underage alcohol possession. Lalich completed the required alcohol program, and Charlottesville General District Court Judge Robert H. Downer dismissed the charges.

Lalich, a former West Springfield standout, was benched for one game last season before he was dismissed from the team on Sept. 18. He later transferred to Oregon State.

Todd Lalich, Peter's father, had no comment when reached by telephone.
