A man who appeared on the Capital Beltway in Prince George's County during a downpour Saturday night was struck by a car and killed, Maryland State Police said.

Cpl. John Krysiak said the man apparently left the median and began crossing the outer loop in the Temple Hills area on foot about 8 p.m. After several vehicles swerved around him, the man, who appeared disoriented, was struck, Krysiak said.

The incident occurred between St. Barnabas Road and Branch Avenue. The man, who had not been identified Sunday night, was taken to a hospital, where he died about an hour and a half later.
