Pittston is about 235 miles from Washington. Take Interstate 95 north to I-83 north to I-81 north.

WHERE TO STAY

Pricier but worth a stay are:

Radisson Lackawanna Station Hotel Scranton (700 Lackawanna Ave., Scranton, 570-342-8300). In a beautiful restored railroad terminal near the malls and the Steamtown National Historic Site. Rooms from $169.

Frederick Stegmaier Mansion (304 S. Franklin St., Wilkes-Barre, 570-823-9372, http://www.stegmaiermansion.com). Locally famous for its high Victorian decor. Rooms from $145 to $225.
