Montgomery County police are investigating the suspicious death of a 23-year-old woman found Monday morning in an apartment in the Long Branch area of Silver Spring.

At 6:30 a.m., a 911 caller reported a "suspicious situation" in the 8800 block of Garland Avenue, a police spokeswoman said. Officers found the woman unresponsive and tried life-saving measures but could not revive her. There was no obvious cause of death, the spokeswoman said.

The victim's body was taken to the state medical examiner's officer in Baltimore. Police expected to release more details by the end of the afternoon.
