MobiTV, which packages together TV content for mobile phone operators to offer streaming video services, is looking to expand beyond the U.S. and Latin America and into Europe and Asia.

The Emeryville, Calif.-based company also said it is also interested in working with a company, such as MediaFLO, which can complement its streaming services with broadcast TV that doesn't use or clog up the cellular network, according to Total Telecom magazine.

MobiTV's CMO Ray de Renzo said in expanding internationally, it will take another approach to the market, by licensing its technology to a carrier rather than aggregating the content, like it does in the U.S. The reason is that carriers may have easier access to local content than they do. He said they are currently in talks with a German operator and is also interested in Asia and the Middle East, but it will at least be another year before services are live in those areas.

De Renzo also said the company is interested in working with Qualcomm's MediaFLO because it is interesting in combing its streaming video services with a broadcast service that would able to handle large capacities during events, such as a football game or the inauguration.
