GETTING THERE

Delta offers one-stop flights from Reagan National to Berlin via JFK starting at $559 round trip and from BWI starting at $580. Northwest flies from Dulles to Berlin via Amsterdam, with fares starting at $574 round trip. Wittenberg is 62 miles southwest of Berlin, and the drive from there to Worms is about 320 miles.

Luther-Hotel (Neustrasse 7-10, 011-49-3491-4580, http://www.luther-hotel-wittenberg.de). Also comfortable and centrally located. A double room here is about $123.

LEIPZIG:

WEIMAR:
