Records: Sky Blue (7-7-5, 26 points), Freedom (7-7-5, 26 points).

When: 7 p.m.

Where: Maryland SoccerPlex, Boyds.

Outlook: The playoffs start early for these two teams, as they enter the final game of the regular season tied for third in Women's Professional Soccer and with a playoff berth at stake.

The winner secures a spot in the postseason; the loser must wait to see what the Boston Breakers (7-8-4, 25 points) do in their home game against the top-seeded Los Angeles Sol on Sunday. If Washington and New Jersey-based Sky Blue tie, a number of tiebreakers could come into play for seeding depending on the outcome of the Breakers game. Washington would secure a spot in the postseason with a draw but would not be guaranteed the No. 3 seed and a home game.

The Freedom had a chance to book a trip to the playoffs last week at last place FC Gold Pride but had a four-game unbeaten streak snapped with a 3-2 loss in Santa Clara, Calif., in what was the Freedom's third game in seven days. Sky Blue FC, meanwhile, has lost just once in its past seven games.

Washington has been bolstered by the return to form of star forward Abby Wambach, who was named WPS Player of the Month after scoring four goals and adding one assist in July.
