Deep in Connecticut: In the teams' first meeting on June 6, all-star Asjha Jones scored 22 points for the Sun and point guard Lindsay Whalen tallied 21 in an 82-70 Washington win. But since that game, the Sun has added new players who worry Mystics Coach Julie Plank. "I think they have a lot more depth, and really some great versatility," she said.
Standings Shakeup: After Washington beat Detroit on Friday and Connecticut lost to Minnesota, the Mystics have a one-game lead over the Sun. Plank stressed that with 14 games remaining, every game is important, but that playing Connecticut -- the teams will meet again in Washington on Friday -- brings added urgency. "Someone is going to get a win and someone is going to get a loss and it's going to make a big difference in the standings," she said.
Missing Coleman: In 11 games since returning from a high-ankle sprain, the Mystics' Marissa Coleman has not regained her scoring form, averaging less than five points a game. "We definitely look for Marissa to score for us," Plank said. "We're looking for her to get back in that form that she was in those early games."
