A 3-year-old boy died Wednesday after he fell unconscious inside his Waldorf home, and police say they hope an autopsy will answer "a lot of unanswered questions" about the case.

Just before 8:30 a.m., one of DeSean Tyrese Wade's older sisters called police to report that her brother had stopped breathing, authorities said. Emergency responders transported the boy to Civista Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.

The case is classified as a "death investigation," and Wade's body has been sent to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for an autopsy, said Diane Richardson, a spokeswoman for the Charles County Sheriff's Office. Police said the body showed no obvious signs of trauma.
