The Metro subcontractor who died last week touched a live wire before his electrocution at the Bladensburg bus garage in Northeast, Metro spokeswoman Lisa Farbstein said Monday.

Farbstein said, however, that the medical examiner needs to officially determine the cause of death for the victim, identified as Steven Troy Griffith, 30, of Chantilly.

Griffith's funeral service was held Monday afternoon in Manassas, according to a death notice.

Jaxson Point Inc. of King George, Va., Griffith's employer, has not returned messages seeking comment about the accident that have been left over the past week.

Metro Transit Police are conducting an investigation.
