Last Season: 12-2 (lost to Florida in the BCS title game).
Returning Starters: 14 (5 offense, 9 defense).
Key Game: vs. Texas, Oct. 17 in Dallas.
Why They're Worth Watching
For Oklahoma, which has won three straight Big 12 titles, it's all about the offense -- and the Sooners' defense is starting to come along, too. Oklahoma's prolific spread attack returns an array of skill players. Quarterback Sam Bradford, who threw for 4,720 yards and 50 touchdowns last season, is the Sooners' leader, while running backs DeMarco Murray and Chris Brown form one of the nation's best backfield duos. And in an offense-oriented conference, Oklahoma has one of the better defenses. The Sooners have one of the nation's best defensive lines, led by tackle Gerald McCoy, and talented returning starters in linebacker Travis Lewis and cornerback Dominique Franks.
Why They're Vulnerable
Oklahoma's offensive line is a big question mark, with only one returning starter. The Sooners also have recently suffered some losses on the defensive side of the ball. The linebackers took a hit after a season-ending knee injury to Tom Wort and the uncertainty regarding Upper Marlboro native Mike Balogun, who has petitioned the NCAA for another year of eligibility after it came to light that he played semipro football after he turned 21 years old.
Player to Watch
Sam Bradford, Jr., QB
Bradford set the bar high for himself by winning the Heisman Trophy last season. Now expectations call for nothing short of greatness.
