A former billing technician at an information technology firm used her company's corporate credit card to purchase nearly $300,000 in personal goods, federal prosecutors wrote in court papers.

Rochelle Dunbar, 45, of Bowie was charged Monday with one count of mail fraud in the District's federal court. The charge came in a criminal information, a document that can only be filed with the defendant's consent and usually signals a plea deal is near.

Dunbar is accused of using a corporate credit card issued by her company, DKW Communications, to make personal purchases from September 2006 through May 2008, according to prosecutors.

Assistant U.S. Attorney David S. Johnson wrote in court papers that Dunbar charged $5,952 at a spa, $17,875.91 at Best Buy, $18,371.28 at Stub Hub and $20,866.10 at Streamline Auto Sound.

Dunbar also used the card to buy items at such high-end stores as Louis Vuitton, Tiffany & Co. and Gucci, according to Johnson.

Dunbar's attorney, Jonathan Jeffress, a federal public defender, could not be reached for comment.

No court date has been set. DKW Communications is based in Silver Spring.
