Adoptable Rescued Dogs
AUGUSTA COUNTY, VA., Aug. 22. Employees of the league drove to Augusta County to pick up 18 dogs rescued from a breeding facility where they were being kept under inhumane conditions. Many of the dogs were suffering from malnutrition and disease. They were being evaluated and treated by the league's medical center. Some were expected to become available for adoption in September.
A Cat Family Is Given Up
TENTH ST. NE, 4300 block, Aug. 25. A woman surrendered cats -- a female, a male and three kittens -- to the league, saying she did not want to care for so many animals. She was advised about spaying and neutering any future cats she acquires. The cats were being evaluated for adoption.
