An 81-year-old North Beach man was killed Monday and two others were injured in a head-on collision on Mount Harmony Road in Calvert County, police said.
Phillip A. Sullivan was traveling west on Mount Harmony Road near Rue Court in Owings when a Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck traveling east crossed the center line and struck his 1998 Lincoln Continental head-on, police said. Sullivan was flown to Prince George's Hospital Center, where he died several hours later. His wife, Louise A. Sullivan, 78, was also injured in the crash and flown to the hospital, police said.
The driver of the pickup, Brian J. Mackall, 19, of Owings was taken by ambulance to Prince George's Hospital Center, police said. His injuries did not appear to be life-threatening, officials said.
Police said driver error, not speed or alcohol, appears to have caused the crash.
