Montgomery County police continued to search Thursday for two suspects in a Sunday morning killing, including a man who checked himself out of an area hospital Wednesday.

Winston Delroy "Dimas" Dillon, 39, was last seen at Washington Hospital Center, where he was treated for a gunshot wound to his right leg. Detectives suspect he received the wound at the home of the victim, 63-year-old Clarence Rankine, who was found fatally shot outside his house in the 900 block of University Boulevard in Silver Spring.

"For reasons still under investigation," police said in an earlier statement, "the victim went outside to the side yard of his residence and was shot multiple times."

Dillon had not been served with a warrant and was not under arrest when he left the hospital, said Lt. Paul Starks, a police spokesman.

"He signed himself out, against medical advice," said Paula Faria, a hospital spokeswoman.

Dillon could be wearing a leg brace. "It's a significant injury," Starks said. "To get around without a brace will be difficult."

Detectives also are looking for Vincent Lloyd Minto, 39, who was last seen at the time of the slaying. Police have obtained first-degree murder warrants against Minto and Dillon.

Anyone with information about the suspects is asked to call 301-279-8000.
