-- The Greater Birmingham Convention and Visitors Bureau has teamed with more than 45 area hotels to offer free Sunday night stays in and around the Alabama city. To receive the deal, you must stay at one of the participating hotels Friday and Saturday night; the third night is redeemed either by coupon, online or by phone. Properties vary (many are chains, though). For example, rooms at the historic Redmont Hotel, the city's oldest operating hotel, run $119 to $225 per night; the Hotel Highland at Five Points South, a boutique property, charges $119 to $169. A 14 percent lodging tax, applicable to all three nights, is extra. Valid through December. Book at individual properties. -- Variety Cruises is celebrating the launch of its Red Sea Wonders sojourn in Egypt with a pair of deals. Book by Sept. 15 and pay in full by Sept. 20 to receive 10 percent off the fare; after the discount, price starts at $1,791 per person double. In addition, on select dates (Dec. 11, Jan. 8 and 22), the cruise line is offering two free nights in a five-star Cairo hotel, a half-day city tour and transfers from the airport to the hotel and to the departure port. The 10-day cruise aboard the M/Y Harmony V travels round trip from Hurghada, Egypt, and visits Sharm el-Sheikh on the Sinai Peninsula; Aqaba, Jordan; and Safaga, Egypt, among other destinations. -- Air India has sale fares on flights from New York's JFK airport or Newark to cities across India. Round-trip fares to Mumbai or New Delhi start at $339 midweek for travel through Oct. 29, and from $391 for travel Oct. 30-Dec. 10. Add $25 each way for Friday or Saturday departures and Saturday or Sunday returns. At least $411 in taxes is additional. For example, a late September flight from Newark to Mumbai costs $746, including taxes. The deal also covers 50 other Indian cities (e.g., Kolkata, Goa), with fares from $339 to $433, depending on the departure date. Book by Sept. 20; limited availability and blackout dates apply. -- European Destinations is offering deals on packages to various cities in Europe. For example, pay $1,020.31 per person double for a six-night trip to Prague and Vienna departing Nov. 24. Price includes airfare from BWI, three nights' hotel in each city, high-speed train ride from Prague to Vienna, and taxes and fees.
