A man who was fatally shot Thursday in the Forestville area of Prince George's County has been identified as 53-year-old Fred Scott Davis of Dunkirk, police said Friday.

This Story

Davis was working at a house in the 3700 block of Forestville Road when he was shot, according to a woman who said she is the fiancee of a man who lives at the house. It was unclear what work he was doing and why he was shot.

Police did not comment on the circumstances of the shooting, saying the homicide is still under investigation.

Police said the suspect is an adult black male with shoulder-length braids and a dark-colored baseball cap, who was last seen running north on Forestville Road toward Marlboro Pike about 11:20 a.m. Thursday, the time of the shooting.

The woman said Thursday that the house had twice been targeted by vandals in recent months, and she had posted the security camera video of the incidents on YouTube.
