Prince George's County police have charged a Langley Park man with two counts of murder in the slayings of two men, and another man as an accomplice in one of the murders.

Alvaro E. Hernandez-Lopez, 26, was charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of Byron E. Perez and Marco A. Mendez. Police have also charged Ruperto A. Tobar-Lutin, 32, of Langley Park, with one count of first-degree murder in Mendez's death. Both men are being held without bond.

Officers responded to the 8500 block of 15th Avenue in Langley Park at 2:06 a.m. Aug. 22 for a reported shooting. They found Perez, 24, of the 8100 block of 15th Avenue suffering from a gunshot wound to the body. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

On Feb. 27, at 4:56 p.m., officers responding to the 7100 block of Crain Highway in Upper Marlboro for a report of a body in the woods found Mendez. Police have not released a cause of death, but investigators said they think Mendez had been killed several days earlier, after he got into a dispute with Hernandez-Lopez and Tobar-Lutin.

Police ask that anyone with information call the Prince George's police Homicide Unit at 301-772-4925. Callers wishing to remain anonymous may call Crime Solvers at 1-866-411 TIPS (8477) .
