Holy Cross Uses Fourth Quarter Rally to Top Georgetown

Georgetown scored a touchdown on its opening drive, but failed to hold onto its lead and lost, 20-7, to Holy Cross in Saturday's Patriot League game at Fitton Field in Worcester, Mass.
The Hoyas (0-1) led 7-6 heading into the fourth quarter. Dominic Randolph, the two-time Patriot League offensive player of the year, led the Crusaders (1-0) to two fourth-quarter touchdowns as they rallied past Georgetown.
Bill Edger caught seven passes for 82 yards and a touchdown. Paul Nielsen, who had 45 yards on two receptions, caught the Crusaders' other touchdown.
After Georgetown converted twice on fourth downs during its opening series, James Brady threw a 33-yard touchdown pass to Keerome Lawrence to put the Hoyas on the scoreboard. Lawrence finished with four catches for 62 yards. Brady completed 11 of 23 passes for 77 yards. Scott Darby entered the game midway through the third quarter and finished with 54 yards on 8-of-17 passing.
Georgetown, which suffered its fourth straight season-opening loss, gave up 519 yards of total offense to the Crusaders. The Hoyas gained only 38 yards rushing.
-- RICHMOND 24, DUKE 16: Eric Ward completed 12 of 23 passes for 141 yards to lead the defending division I-AA national champion Spiders (1-0) to a win in Durham, N.C. Richmond held Duke (0-1) to 20 yards rushing.
Richmond's Tyler Kirchoff rushed for a touchdown and blocked a punt for another score. Teammate Jonathan Mayfield returned the blocked punt five yards for a touchdown to open the scoring midway through the first quarter.
Thaddeus Lewis was 34 of 55 for 350 yards and two touchdowns for the Blue Devils in front of a crowd of 33,311, Duke's largest crowd at home since 2001.
The Blue Devils, who lost their opener for the sixth time in seven years, missed a pair of field goals in addition to the blocked punt.
-- OLD DOMINION 36, CHOWAN 21: The Monarchs, playing their first football game in 69 years, won at home by defeating the Division II Hawks (0-2). Drew Hareza kicked five field goals and Jamar Parham ran for two touchdowns. Hareza went 5 of 7 on field goal attempts, including a 48-yarder on the final play before halftime. Parham carried 13 times for 105 yards and scored on runs of 1 and 43 yards.
