ILLINOIS

Missing Boy Found in Grandmother's Home

A boy missing for nearly two years was found hidden behind a wall inside his grandmother's house in southern Illinois on Friday, and police arrested his mother and grandmother in connection with his disappearance.

The home, in Franklin County, contained several hiding spots, including a hole in a floor and a hidden area behind a dresser and wall, authorities said. Richard Chekevdia, 6, and his mother, Shannon Wilfong, were found inside a small room hidden behind a wall.

Wilfong disappeared along with Richard in late 2007, apparently the culmination of custody disagreements with the boy's father, according to authorities. Wilfong was charged with kidnapping in December 2007, but authorities couldn't find her.

On Friday, authorities found the boy during a search of the home of Wilfong's mother, Diane Dobbs, about 120 miles southeast of St. Louis. Authorities said they don't think Wilfong or the boy left the home in the time they have been sought.

OKLAHOMA

5 Die in Crash Of Small Plane

A small aircraft plummeted into an Oklahoma park and burst into flames Saturday after hitting a guy wire from a communications tower, killing all five people on board, investigators said. The plane was on its way to Dallas when it crashed in heavy fog near a baseball field in Tulsa, said Oklahoma Highway Patrol Lt. George Brown. "The wings came off. The engine came off," Brown said. "When it hit, it rolled." Two men, a woman and two girls were killed. The tower is 150 to 200 feet tall, Brown said.
