Montgomery County police have identified the man who was killed Tuesday afternoon when his vehicle collided head-on with a transit bus outside Damascus as Alfred B. Weedon, 61, of Montgomery Village.

A preliminary investigation showed that Weedon, who was driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee south on Woodfield Road near Pleasant View Lane, crossed the center line into the path of the bus shortly before 12:50 p.m., according to police.

One of the passengers on the Ride On bus was taken to a hospital for an injury that was not life-threatening, police said. The bus driver was also hospitalized with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

No one other than Weedon was in the Jeep, according to police, who continued to investigate the incident.
