Two people were killed and two others wounded in shootings over the weekend in Northeast Washington. In one incident, a 16-year-old boy was shot in the head, according to D.C. police and neighbors.

The violence, in the 6th Police District, began at 9:27 p.m. Saturday, when officers were called to the 5000 block of Just Street NE for a shooting and found Antonio Ward, 16, of the District lying dead.

Two other people were reported wounded: one in the abdomen, the other in the leg, neighbors said. They were taken to hospitals in stable condition, police said. Police did not release their names or ages.

Bennie Bellinger, 76, said she was watching TV when she heard what sounded like gunfire just outside her home. Her nephew dialed 911, and she went downstairs to find that bullets had pierced her front window. Her car windows were shattered, too, she said.

"Good thing wasn't nobody sitting there," she said. "Bullets ain't got no eyes."

Cmdr. Rodney Parks said police have no suspects or motive in the slaying, but "it's still very early in the investigation." He said investigators do not think it is connected to the 6th District slaying that occurred several hours later, less than two miles away.

In the later case, police were called to the 4000 block of Minnesota Avenue NE about 3 a.m. Sunday, where they found Jason Liser, 32, of Bowie with multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to a hospital, where he died. Parks said there are no obvious suspects or motive in Liser's killing.

Anyone with information about either case is asked to call police at 202-727-9099.
