Man Found Fatally Shot in Northeast

A 35-year-old resident of the Brookland area of Northeast Washington was found fatally shot within three blocks of his home early Sunday, D.C. police said.

They said Abdullah R. Fuller of the Newton Street NE was found about 5 a.m. with at least two gunshot wounds in the 1300 block of Perry Street NE. The spot where he was found is relatively secluded and near a Franciscan monastery and Fort Bunker Hill park.

A neighborhood resident reached Sunday night called Fuller a likable, easygoing husband and father who worked at a large grocery store in the District. The killing, he said, "just shocks me."

Body Found in Burning House Not Identified

Authorities have said the body found in a burning house in Capitol Heights early Saturday was that of a black male. They have not identified the man or determined the cause of death.

The body was discovered when firefighters arrived at a one-story house in the 800 block of Kayak Avenue about 2:30 a.m., officials said. Authorities said that it appeared the fire was set and that it was not clear whether the man had died before the fire started.

Sgt. Michelle Reedy, a Prince George's County police spokeswoman, said detectives are investigating the death as a homicide.

County fire department spokesman Mark Brady said investigators expect to learn more when an autopsy is done.
