A man who raped a woman near a bus stop in Riverdale last year has been sentenced to 32 years in prison after pleading guilty to second-degree rape and a handgun violation, Prince George's State's Attorney Glenn F. Ivey said.
Rafael Gonzalez Castro, 25, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty and was sentenced Thursday, authorities said. His plea was in connection with an attack on a 57-year-old woman March 27, 2008.
About 10 p.m. that evening, the victim was walking to a bus stop near East-West Highway in Riverdale to meet her teenage daughter, officials said. Gonzalez Castro grabbed her from behind, put a gun to her face and walked her to a spot near a commercial dumpster, where he raped her, prosecutors said. Gonzalez Castro then forced her to climb into the dumpster, where he again sexually assaulted her, officials said.
