The officer was identified as Kurt Colson, who has been a member of the department a little more than two years. Police said he is assigned to the 5th District police station in Germantown as an evening shift patrol officer.

Police said the matter is under investigation.

Officer, Driver Hurt in Crash

A Prince George's County police officer and a 55-year-old driver were injured Monday in a crash in the Temple Hills area, authorities said.

The crash occurred just before 2:20 p.m. at Suitland Parkway and Naylor Road, said Sgt. Michelle Reedy, a Prince George's police spokeswoman. She said the circumstances of the crash were unclear, but communications records indicated that one car struck the other in the side.

Neither victim's injuries were considered life-threatening.
