Police are searching for two men who they believe are responsible for breaking into at least four Laurel businesses in recent days and absconding with the cash register or cash register drawer.
How they do it, according to police: The men pull up to the business in a two-door, red Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck with a silver toolbox in the bed. One man gets out of the passenger side of the vehicle and shatters the front door of the business with a crowbar or rock, then leaves the way he came in.
All four burglaries have occurred between 1 a.m. and 3 a.m., police said.
The men first struck on October 1, police said, burglarizing Charity's Beauty Shop in Laurel. On October 4, they hit three more establishments in the city limits: Beauty Max, Lanny's Sub Shop and the Dollar Store, police said. Investigators are exploring the possibility that the men might also be responsible for similar burglaries elsewhere in Prince George's and Anne Arundel counties.
Police described one suspect as a light-skinned black male with a thin build and black ponytail or dreadlocks. The truck has a black bed liner, silver side mirrors, a bug deflector on the front hood and chrome railings on the side of the bed, police said.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Laurel police at 301-498-8002.
