A Reston man was arrested Wednesday and charged with rape in an attack on a woman in the Herndon area Monday afternoon, Fairfax County police said.

The 19-year-old woman told police that she and the man, whom she had just met, were riding bicycles near the Herndon-Monroe Park and Ride station, just off the Dulles Toll Road, about 4 p.m. Monday, Fairfax Officer Bud Walker said. When they approached the parking lot, the woman told police that the man convinced her to enter some nearby woods, and when they did, he sexually assaulted her, Walker said.

The woman was taken to Inova Fairfax Hospital with minor injuries. She did not know the man's name, but detectives were able to develop a suspect. On Wednesday, Mohamed Kaffi, 28, of the 1600 block of Becontree Lane turned himself in at the Reston police station, police said.

Kaffi was charged with rape and abduction with intent to defile.
