Alexandria police have arrested a suspect in Thursday morning's armed bank robbery and lifted a lockdown on three public schools in the area.
The robbery happened about 10:35 a.m. at the Wachovia Bank at 3624 King St., prompting a "large police search in the area," authorities said. The suspect was apprehended about noon and the lockdown was lifted.
The three schools were Frances C. Hammond Middle School Campus, T.C. Williams High School Minnie Howard Campus and T. C. Williams High School.
