Wedding date: Sept. 18

LOCATION: Clarendon United Methodist Church, Arlington; Top of the Town, Arlington

How they met: Caitlin needed a ride to her friend's wedding in Pittsburgh. Her friend's dad suggested that Nick, another wedding guest, could take Caitlin. The friend was worried the two wouldn't get along, but things went so well that Nick and Caitlin had their first date -- kayaking on the Potomac -- a week later.

The proposal: Caitlin lived downtown while the Newseum was being built and would often pass by the front-page display. Combine that with the fact that she was a journalist, and Nick had his plan. One day at the Newseum Nick put up a poster board with a newspaper headline that read, "Caitlin, Will You Marry Me?" For good measure, he repeated it while down on one knee.

The wedding: Both wedding bands were passed around in organza bags for each guest to touch and say a silent blessing over. Nick and Caitlin also lit a unity candle, passing on the flame to the first person in each row, which started a chain of guests lighting candles.

Honeymoon: Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
