West Springfield High School canceled classes about noon Friday while police searched the school following a bomb threat, Fairfax police and school officials said.

Police said they did not find anything in their search and the school was reopened at 2:45 p.m.

A rock was thrown into a window at nearby West Springfield Elementary School Thursday night, along with a note threatening a bomb at the high school, school officials said.

The high school students were evacuated from the building about 9 a.m. and dismissed a few hours later, school officials said. West Springfield Elementary students were also evacuated Friday morning, after police spotted a suspicious package on the school's roof. After an investigation, students were sent back to class about noon.
