From July 2008 through June, the chapter assisted 199 families, 317 adults and 189 children.
Blood donations through the Red Cross also increased in the fiscal year, with organization officials collecting 5,755 units of blood from 219 drives -- up from the 4,795 units of blood collected the previous year.
Red Cross officials said they continue to reach out to the armed forces. The Prince William chapter provides trained caseworkers 24 hours a day to respond to the needs of military families.
